I think the future of learning relies on our individual ability, as well as our generation’s ability, to be truly reflective about what is happening in education. That reflection will inform us as to what needs to stay in education, what is valuable, and what needs to be let go. For example, standardized, high stakes testing years ago was (and I guess still is) was all the rage. Many educators are re-thinking the importance of high stakes testing, and how important, and how able, it is to truly asses what students have learned. Unfortunately, traditional high stakes testing has chained some students to their seats, and some teachers to the front of the class to carry on learning in a very traditional and standardized way. Some may even cry boring, and yearn for other ways to assess and demonstrate that students have made progress.
